PS Vita Silicone Skin/Case Does The Job

by Paul on March 19, 2012

Even though it’s a luxury item launched the wrong side of Christmas, some are saying the PS Vita is the most powerful, dazzling and impressive handheld games console ever built, representing the next generation of Sony’s PSP handheld gaming consoles – and smashing the competition, such as the Nintendo 3DS.

Easy to install without the assistance of any tool, a silicone skin/case provides the ultimate buffer from those inevitable knocks while also giving you extra comfort and grip while you play.

When looking to protect a console such as the PS Vita, the skin or case you choose is no good without cut-outs for essential functions. Sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised what’s out there.

Have a look here at some high quality flexible silicone cases, covered with a clear protective layer for maximum durability and giving you full access to the PS Vita controls (plus they come in a variety of colours).

iPad 3 – the tastiest Apple yet

by Paul on March 12, 2012

So as expected, Apple did finally announce the arrival of the iPad 3 at their San Francisco event on March 7th, as mentioned in our previous post.

I have to say, the iPad 3 looks pretty cool (and that’s coming from someone who’s not the biggest Apple fan in the world).

With Retina display boasting four times the pixels of the iPad 2 and quad-core graphics, this new release contains 3.1 million pixels in the display, offers users up to 10 hours of battery power and features a 5MP iSight camera.

The iPad 3 will be in UK shops from 16th March and prices start at £399.00. In the meantime, here’s a nice video showing off the features of Apple’s new flagship tablet:

Thinking of selling your iPad? Be quick!

by Paul on February 29, 2012

If you’re thinking of selling your used iPad, you’d better be quick! Especially if you’re after the highest price (and let’s face it – who wouldn’t be?).

“Why rush?” I hear you ask.

The simple fact is that people who sold their original iPad before the iPad 2 was announced got a better price than those who waited to sell until after the iPad 2 became available.

And now that Apple has sent out press invites for an event in San Francisco on March 7th, electronics resellers and ebay have seen a massive increase in the number of used iPads for sale.

The San Francisco event is expected to unveil the iPad 3 and possibly the next version of Apple TV.

So should you buy a new iPad 2, a used iPad 2 or a shiny, new iPad 3?

You may well be concerned if you purchase a new iPad 2, the newer version will be released at a similar price and with better features (which is exactly what’s expected).

The iPad 2 has been around now for about a year and the iPad 3’s release is imminent (even if it’s not announced on March 7th). And it’s expected to take a huge leap in terms of hardware – what with its quad-core processor and a higher-resolution screen. And, as rumour has it, it’ll also boast a bigger battery and usher in the new iOS5.1 operating system.

So which will you go for? Leave a comment below and let us know.

iPad 2 – How do you use yours?

by Paul on February 15, 2012

Tablets. It seems like everybody wants one – and with good reason: they’re cutting edge, beautifully designed, uber portable and of course you can do so much with them. They’re a way to carry around your music, pictures and videos and of course they allow you to work from anywhere, especially since their battery life is so superior compared to laptops.

There are so many ways you can use your iPad or other tablet, some of which are more impressive than others. Have a look at this list to see if you could get more from your iPad:

1. Remote control

Yes, you can use your iPad as a remote control. But you probably already have a remote control for that.

2. Ereader

Either use the iTunes store for ebooks, audio books and the new interactive iBooks textbooks or simply use the Amazon Kindle app.

3. Picture Frame

Load your iPad with pictures, put it on display in the living room and enjoy (perhaps might be a good idea not to share your more ‘personal’ pics icon wink iPad 2 – How do you use yours? )

4. Recipe Stand

Recipes are now commonly used when they’ve been taken from a website or email so it makes sense to be able to follow them electronically without the hassle of printing them or copying them out by hand.

5. TV in the Car for Kids

Kids get restless in the car so try securing your iPad to the back of a headrest and voila! They get entertainment, you get peace and quiet.

6. A second monitor

Why would you want a second monitor, I hear you ask. Well, you can easily teach someone else what you’re doing on your computer by hooking it up to your iPad and handing that to them so they can watch as you help them update their blog, for example. You could also easily make notes on your pc while watching an educational YouTube video.

7. Family information hub

People have even started mounting tablets in cabinets to be used as a family information centre: ie, calendar, recipes, schedules, communication and media all in one place.

8. Portable TV

There are multiple applications that allow you to watch live TV (slingbox) as well as movies or TV (hulu, netflix)

So have you got an iPad or other tablet? How do you use yours?

Maybe you don’t want a tablet. Maybe you like using a physical keyboard, so prefer to stick with your laptop.

Well, let’s be honest – that’s not a problem anymore.

Laptops weren’t really designed to be used in the ways above but you can easily add the functionality you prefer to an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, so you can type, chat and play just as easily as before as well as enjoy all the additional benefits tablets offer.

I don’t know if you’ve noticed, but it’s pretty cold outside.

Personally speaking, I’ve just stepped out for the first time in a week having had flu…and was nearly knocked sideways by the freezing air before I nearly slid backwards on the ice outside my front door.

Thankfully, no-one was looking as I did the ‘Winter Dance’.

But then, a real problem: I had to send a text. I’ll admit it – I was scared.

Why?gloves pink Sub Zero Fun – How To Enjoy Your iPhone 4/4s, Galaxy S2, Htc Sensation Or Other Smartphone Even In These Freezing Temperatures

Because if I stood still and tapped on my phone’s screen for more than five seconds I feared I’d lose a finger or two to frostbite (and having just survived a near-slip, I certainly wasn’t going to risk texting while walking).

So I came up with these three clever solutions, which could work just as easily for you:

  • Solution 1: Don’t use your phone
  • Solution 2: Use your phone as you normally do…but risk getting frostbite and dropping your precious mobile onto some nasty ice and watch in horror as it smashes on the solid ground
  • Solution 3: Treat yourself to some tech touch gloves with silver coated nylon fibre tips that are designed for using touch-screen devices in cold weather

They come in all sorts of colours (black, dark red, blue, pink, grey, beige) and are just the ticket for this cold weather.

Perfect for when you’re out shopping, fishing, at a sporting event or even winter dancing.

How do you cope with the freezing weather when using your phone?

4 New Ereaders & Tablets for 2012

by Paul on January 9, 2012

After a slow start, we in Britain are now buying more and more ereaders and tablets. Reading books, magazines and newspapers on a single device is on the rise. girl with ereader 272x300 4 New Ereaders & Tablets for 2012

How many Amazon Kindles were given as Christmas presents in Britain? 1.3 million, making it the most popular tablet here last month and making Britain the biggest market outside America for the entry-level Kindle.

So what shiny, new, clever tablets/ereaders have we in store for 2012?

Here are YoshieandNico’s Four to Watch:

1. Amazon Kindle Touch

Coming soon, this touchscreen is already selling more in America than the non-touch Kindle.

 2. Waterstone’s Nook

Due out in March, the Nook – made by U.S. bookseller Barnes & Noble – has been a massive hit, partly down to the fact that it has the best battery life on the market (up to two months).

3. Amazon Kindle Fire

Some say it’ll be released before the summer, some say it’ll be nearer Christmas before we see the Fire.

This all-streaming, all-dancing device will be out just as soon as Amazon get its cloud working beyond America (to enable its instant video service, music player and Android app store).

4. iPad 3

The world can expect a new iPad this year – but no-one outside Apple knows what form it’ll take.

There could even be two versions on their way: an upgrade to the iPad 2 and a smaller (cheaper) version to rival the Kindle Fire.

Have you already got an ereader or tablet? Get the most from your shiny, clever gadget…protect it, personalise it, put it in leather or on a stand, whatever your style, whatever your lifestyle.

Or will 2012 be the year you get one? Let us know your thoughts.
