Tablets. It seems like everybody wants one – and with good reason: they’re cutting edge, beautifully designed, uber portable and of course you can do so much with them. They’re a way to carry around your music, pictures and videos and of course they allow you to work from anywhere, especially since their battery life is so superior compared to laptops.
There are so many ways you can use your iPad or other tablet, some of which are more impressive than others. Have a look at this list to see if you could get more from your iPad:
1. Remote control
Yes, you can use your iPad as a remote control. But you probably already have a remote control for that.
2. Ereader
Either use the iTunes store for ebooks, audio books and the new interactive iBooks textbooks or simply use the Amazon Kindle app.
3. Picture Frame
Load your iPad with pictures, put it on display in the living room and enjoy (perhaps might be a good idea not to share your more ‘personal’ pics
)
4. Recipe Stand
Recipes are now commonly used when they’ve been taken from a website or email so it makes sense to be able to follow them electronically without the hassle of printing them or copying them out by hand.
5. TV in the Car for Kids
Kids get restless in the car so try securing your iPad to the back of a headrest and voila! They get entertainment, you get peace and quiet.
6. A second monitor
Why would you want a second monitor, I hear you ask. Well, you can easily teach someone else what you’re doing on your computer by hooking it up to your iPad and handing that to them so they can watch as you help them update their blog, for example. You could also easily make notes on your pc while watching an educational YouTube video.
7. Family information hub
People have even started mounting tablets in cabinets to be used as a family information centre: ie, calendar, recipes, schedules, communication and media all in one place.
8. Portable TV
There are multiple applications that allow you to watch live TV (slingbox) as well as movies or TV (hulu, netflix)
So have you got an iPad or other tablet? How do you use yours?
Maybe you don’t want a tablet. Maybe you like using a physical keyboard, so prefer to stick with your laptop.
Well, let’s be honest – that’s not a problem anymore.
Laptops weren’t really designed to be used in the ways above but you can easily add the functionality you prefer to an iPad with a Bluetooth keyboard, so you can type, chat and play just as easily as before as well as enjoy all the additional benefits tablets offer.
